Our Story
For over 130 years, at Auping we have been designing the finest ways to rest, combining intelligence and emotion.
And for good reason.
We believe that a well-rested world is a better world. At Auping, we craft each bed by hand with meticulous attention to detail, the environment, and the future.
The Beginning
What began in the late 19th century with the design of a hospital bed has evolved into a leading company in the bed, mattress, and bedroom accessories sector.
In 1888, blacksmith Johannes Auping, the company’s founder, was commissioned to design a bed (hospital bed) for the Burgerziekenhuis Hospital in Amsterdam.
Already convinced that sleeping comfort is essential for restorative rest, Johannes designed a hygienic and practical bed that, for the first time, incorporated a spring base. This bed became the starting point of a thriving enterprise.
Our Core
Values
Our Core
Values
Auping is a company. And people of all kinds work here. Each has their own voice, personality, and style. Together, we form the DNA of our corporate culture. This is embodied in five core values.
These core values are intrinsically linked to our strategy and indicate how we foster trust, transparency, and professionalism, and how we create value for all our stakeholders. We believe that a well-rested world is a better world.
Organizations are judged by the behavior of those who work within them. This also applies to Auping. Our practical, entrepreneurial, and responsible approach has enabled us to forge a solid reputation and build trust among consumers, distributors, suppliers, other partners, and employees.
Maintaining and strengthening our good reputation—both yours and ours—is of utmost importance to Auping.
Our Office
From our headquarters in Deventer, in the heart of the Netherlands, we design and manufacture every Auping sleep system. A place where traditional craftsmanship and innovation have coexisted for over 130 years.
The heat generated during production is used to warm our offices in winter. We use gray water for cooling and toilet cisterns. Because sustainability is not an added value—it’s part of how we work.
